The hobby of coin collecting seems to be pretty simple and straightforward without the need for many accessories. While to some extent, this is true, and you can enjoy your collection without any special gadgets, however, most collectors start looking for coin collecting accessories to enhance the enjoyment of their collection.  There is a vast array of accessories for collectors available to fit any collection.

What Coin Collecting Accessories Do You Need?

There is a wide range of coin collecting accessories to choose from. It can be confusing for some collectors to select the right accessories for their collection. The following is a list of several basic coin collecting accessories useful to many collectors.

The first coin collecting accessory that most people choose is the case.  These items can be very important as they provide not only protection for your coins, but an excellent way to display them as well.  Cases come in several sizes and configurations, and are tailored to the specific sizes of the coins are you collecting.  These cases can even display one coin or an entire collection.  When choosing a case, first decide what you need; if you have several different types of coins individual cases may be best, but if you specialize in a particular coin then multiple cases can be a good option.

Another important coin collecting accessory is some type of magnifier.  These range from the classic magnifying glass popular in the old detective films, to the eye loupes that jewelers use.  Your choice would depend on how detailed you wish to inspect your coins.  If you just want a better way to view your coins, then a magnifying glass would probably be appropriate.  For a more detailed inspection, you need the higher power of a loupe.

One coin collecting accessory that many collectors must have is the display case.  These differ from the protective cases mentioned previously where the coin is being cased to be shielded; in a display case, the main purpose is to display the coins.  Display cases can range from simple wall mounted picture frames to entire glass fronted cabinets.  When selecting a display case, the most important criteria would be the size of your collection.
